The inaugural Shakespeare by the Sea Festival is being organised by a local school teacher and will take place this February at Weymouth Pavilion.

The festival will see local school children perform abridged versions of Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream to live audiences. Tickers for the festival are now available via the Weymouth Pavilion box office and website.

Speaking to reporters, organiser, Gary Spracklen, headteacher at the Prince of Wales School, said: “This is a unique opportunity to get involved in something that will create lifetime memories for South Dorset school children. In total, over 120 children are taking part in this year’s festival from across Weymouth and Dorchester. The event promises to be a spectacular celebration of creativity and we’d love local businesses to get involved.”
