We look forward to welcoming you to the new Manchester Jewish Museum. We connect Jewish stories to the world and to our society, in order to explore both our differences and similarities, and to celebrate that which makes people unique and that which connects us all.
We make connections to make things better. We are thrilled to be re-opening this summer with an exciting collaboration with Manchester International Festival and Turner Prize-winning international artist Laure Prouvost. Laure will transform The Ladies' Gallery of our breath-taking 1874 Grade II* Listed synagogue into an immersive experience where the voices of the past will surround you. Laure's installation, The long waited, weighted, gathering, will be open to all museum visitors until 3 October 2021. Our brand-new gallery will take you on a journey through Manchester's rich and diverse Jewish history, exploring universal themes of Journeys, Communities and Identities. It displays highlights from our "outstanding" collection of over 31,000 items including a selection oral history testimonies that bring the stories of Manchester Jewish migration, communities and people to life.
Our new café will serve a contemporary vegetarian kosher-style menu using local produce and authentic Jewish and vegetarian ingredients. Our menu is designed to be a discovery of traditional meets innovative, providing a flavour of Jewish heritage. The café is open from 10am – 4pm daily.
