Sheffield Food Festival is a celebration of the city’s vibrant food scene, showcasing our great local produce, talented chefs, mouthwatering street food and outstanding brewers and distillers.
The city’s largest free to attend event takes place for its tenth year from 22nd – 25th May 2020 in the city centre, spreading across the Peace Gardens, Winter Gardens, Millennium Square, Town Hall Square and Fargate, attracting over 50,000+ visitors across the weekend. The next event is a special celebration of ten successful years of the cities largest free to attend event for all members of the family.
What’s in store for 2020, after the success of last year, we have again made it a four day event, by adding the Friday as an extra day for the main festival, which now starts on Friday the 22nd of May and runs through to 6pm on Monday 25th May 2020. We have extended the event footprint to now take over even more of Fargate, which will include a giant marquee to focus on local produce traders, with a range of stalls and the Green Village, our area of the ethical and sustainable traders, topics and activities, will now be hosted in the Winter gardens. This area shows we are not just about filling your belly, but there are many more serious issues raised around food – food poverty, managing food waste, the impact of our food choices on the environment and climate, to name a few. The funfair will move back to Millennium Square
The event hosts a huge Artisan Market which features food producers and businesses from around Sheffield and further afield, bringing a range of preserves, oils, cakes, cookery books, craft beers, gins, pies and much more for you to take home and enjoy. At the heart of the festival we have the Theatre Kitchen, featuring top chefs and celebrities from across the city and beyond and in 2020 this will change its location and set up and will be done in a totally different way this coming year.
The extensive Street Food Market is jam packed with delicious treats from local companies and the Eats, Treats & Beats Festival Village is set to be even bigger in 2020 and will also have new entertainment features on offer too. In addition, a selection of our very best street food traders open into the night, alongside our stylish stretch tent, al fresco seating, bar stocked by great local breweries and fantastic live music and DJ’s, with a few special surprises as part of our 10th year celebrations.
The Sheffield Food Festival programme includes plenty of kids activities, to keep little hands and minds occupied whilst families enjoy a day of total food and drink indulgence, making sure all members of the family who attend are looked after and have plenty to do.
