This exhibition showcases three handmade dresses, along with other artworks.
Bristol Refugee Artists Collective (BRAC) are facilitating workshops with participant groups of sanctuary seekers to make artwork on the theme of sharing love. The participant workshops will culminate in one of the dresses on display; a Bristol dress made of stitched stories.
Dorcas Dress Project charity (DDP) has partnered with RWA to create the dresses in the exhibition. The charity sets up sewing hubs to support people out of poverty by teaching sewing and business skills. They have sewing hubs all over the world, and some of these have collaborated to create the second embroidered dress on display.
The third dress, made of paper, is for visitors to add their mark or symbol to, in response to the sanctuary seekers' stories and artwork in the exhibition.
Sharing Love coincides with Soft Power: lives told through textile art exhibition in the main galleries.
