From July – September, a special display Platinum Jubilee: The Queen’s Coronation will be included in a visit to Windsor Castle. The Coronation Dress and Robe of Estate worn by The Queen for her Coronation on 2 June 1953 will be on display. The gown, designed by British couturier Sir Norman Hartnell, was created in the finest white duchesse satin and richly embroidered with national and Commonwealth floral emblems. Her Majesty’s Robe of Estate was made of purple silk velvet woven and embroidered with a design symbolising prosperity and peace, surrounding the crowned intertwined EIIR cipher.
