Paignton Festival was previously known as Torbay Carnival. After around 75 years of the same name, we feel that change is good, however Torbay Carnival is not gone and forgotten, as the procession night will keep this name. Despite the new name, they have the same ethos since the event started, to raise money for local charities.
Paignton Festival is run by a small team of dedicated volunteers, who rely solely off donations from the public and local businesses and traders. Without financial support from them they would be unable to put on this successful event every year.
You may be surprised to know that Torbay Carnival has been running for over 100 years.
It was originally held on one night - procession night - but over the years it has grown and now runs over nine days of free entertainment for all the family. They do all this to help raise money for local charities and organisations.
The procession will leave Paignton Green at a new time of 7 pm and the route will be reversed. The procession will leave Pier Approach Road, turn left into Esplanade Road, right into Marine Driva and then finally back onto Paignton Green via the North Promendade Gates.
