The Ouseburn Valley has a well-earned reputation as being Newcastle's cultural hub. Twice a year, once in Spring and once in Winter, the Ouseburn Open Studios sees venues open their doors, offering a unique chance to come and glimpse into the working world of over 200 local artists and designer-makers. 

This year's Spring Ouseburn Open Studios will take place on Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 March 2020 between 10am - 5pm in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley and eight venues will be taking part.

Explore five floors of the original Ouseburn Warehouse Workshops and Studios at the heart of the Ouseburn. Visit over 30 professional designers, artists, musicians and makers who will be showing and selling work of exceptional quality in our beautiful listed building and at the Ouseburn Pottery. Enjoy workshops with textiles, glass and paper, relax at the café, and perhaps win the raffle!

The Biscuit Factory will be stepping into Christmas during this year's Ouseburn Open Studios weekend with a programme of workshops and pop ups guaranteed to bring festive flair to your home and a hint of seasonal sparkle. From bauble painting to neon light making accompanied by cocktails, not to mention delicious winter warmers from the gallery’s independent cafe – there’s plenty to see, experience and indulge in over both days.

Come and meet Jim in his creative workspace in Ouseburn, he'll be on hand to talk about his working practice, from the initial thumbnail sketch, to the finished painting. Ouseburn Open Studios is the perfect opportunity to buy original paintings, drawings, limited edition prints and greetings cards, directly from the artist.

(Preview on Friday 22 November, 6pm-8pm. Saturday & Sunday 10am - 5pm) Mushroom Works will once again open its doors and invite visitors to chat to their friendly artists and designers in their studios. Mushroom Works is now home to a range of creative practitioners including furniture, painting, jewellery, textiles and illustration. Visit a range of artists, discover the techniques they use and discuss the passions that inspire their work. The venue will also be showcasing its ever popular 20cm x 20cm original artworks, all priced at an affordable £20. Ample free parking is available right outside the gallery and our cafe will be open throughout the weekend’s activities serving a variety of refreshments.

Northern Print will certainly offer you a warm welcome when you pop in to view the latest gallery exhibition, meet their talented studio artists who will be demonstrating their printmaking processes. Try your hand at making your own masterpiece and shop their stunning range of original prints and colourful gifts.

Refuel at Kiln with a hot drink or tasty bite to eat before you and your little monsters get hands on in their pottery studio. Come and get to grips with clay, get your hands dirty, and play!

The B.Box studios is the latest addition to the Biscuit Family and houses an eclectic mix of creatives ranging from painters to interior designers. Pop down and have a look at the newest creative hub located in the heart of Ouseburn.

Biscuit Tin Studios in Ouseburn are filled with a motley collection of artists, print makers, ceramicists, street artists, designers, makers and musicians. Individual artists at the Biscuit Tin may have the facilities to accept credit cards but best to bring cash on your visit.
