Along with many we weren't able to celebrate Mother's Day this year.

Why not treat your mother this Mother's Day with a dining experience as you travel through the Essex countryside on board one of our heritage trains? There is a choice of three dining options; a delicious brunch, a scrumptious three course lunch, or a delightful afternoon tea.

We can cater for couples, families and even larger groups who want to celebrate a special day for a special mother.

There will be bar on each train, where you can purchase further alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks.

There will also be on board entertainment.

Mother's Day Brunch Menu:

Arrive at North Weald at 09.30 for a 10.00 departure, with a complimentary glass of prosecco or orange juice on arrival. Once on board enjoy a choice of breakfast roll together with muffins and granola pot as you sit back and relax during the journey. Orange juice and unlimited tea and coffee will also be available.

Child: £17.50

Mother's Day Lunch Menu:

Arrive at North Weald at 11.30 for a 12.00 departure, with a complimentary glass of prosecco or orange juice on arrival. Once on board enjoy a three course lunch with coffee as you savour the journey.

Child (under 10 years): £29.50
Prices are inclusive of meals, drinks as specified and train fare.

Afternoon Tea Menu:

Arrive at North Weald at 14.45 for a 15.15 departure, with a complimentary glass of prosecco or orange juice on arrival. Once on board enjoy a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, a fresh scone with clotted cream and jam together with a selection of mini desserts and tea or coffee as you sit back relax during the journey.

Important information

The dining trains all depart from, and arrive back at, North Weald station, CM16 6BT. Parking will be available, but there is no heritage bus connection provided for these trains. 

When booking you can choose your own seats. You may choose either coach - there is no difference between them. There is no charge for children under 3 but they will not get a seat or a meal.

The event takes place at North Weald Station and the best place for Londoners to start their journey with us is right outside Epping Underground Station where the vintage London Bus takes you directly to North Weald Station:

Accessibility

  • All Areas Accessible to Disabled Visitors - We are able to accommodate visitors with disabilities and in wheelchairs. Our Railway Access Statement - Policy for Disabled People is available to view online. Please do not hesitate to seek assistance from our friendly staff, who are here to help you enjoy your visit.
  • Facility for service dogs - Well controlled dogs, guide and assistance dogs are welcome on our railway at no extra charge. However we are unable to accept dogs, other than assistance dogs, on our dining trains. Should your companion feel thirsty, there are usually water bowls on the platforms with fresh water available. If you cannot find these, please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Guide Dogs Permitted - Well controlled dogs, guide and assistance dogs are welcome on our railway at no extra charge. However we are unable to accept dogs, other than assistance dogs, on our dining trains. Should your companion feel thirsty, there are usually water bowls on the platforms with fresh water available. If you cannot find these, please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Parking Areas for Disabled Visitors - There is very limited parking available at the stations, with priority given to blue badge / disabled customers. Please drive and park with care, avoid blocking access and with consideration of our neighbours.
  • Toilets for Disabled Visitors - Ladies and Gentlemen's toilets are available at Ongar and North Weald stations. Baby changing equipment is included within the Family Room / Ladies Waiting Room facilities at both stations. Disabled toilets are available in Ongar High Street (400 yards from station). Unfortunately, while we have enabled step-free access to Ongar building, the Grade II listed 1865 station does not accommodate a wheelchair accessible toilet. We have recently installed a new disabled toilet in our outlet building at North Weald.

Catering

  • Café - We have our Anglia café coach at North Weald, which serves a range of hot and cold drinks and light refreshments. We also have the "Buffet Stop" at Ongar, also selling hot and cold drinks, crisps and snacks. We recommend the Picnic and Viewing Area at Ongar to relax and unwind, offering a grandstand view of the station and locomotives. At North Weald we have a number of picnic tables around the site that you are welcome to use. There are a number of local pubs and restaurants in both Ongar and North Weald, all offering hot meals.
