An exhibition of recent work by Mike Stones.
Many of these paintings are of exact places, others simply carry the essence of local and other visited landscapes, capturing the tacit feel of a place often taking precedence here over the formal dimensions. The project undoubtedly belongs to 2020, time at an unusual pace and a particular place.
Working as a designer and illustrator over several decades and more recently as a teacher of art this recent turn to oils is a more personally defined art embedded as it is in the everyday and the personal.
