About

Manchester Day will return on 27th July with even more fun-filled free activities for all the family. More details will be announced soon.

From 2023: Pack your bags Manchester – Manchester Day is taking you on holiday!

There’s no need to remember your passport, as it's all happening right here in the city. It's Manchester Day, but not as we know it!

Manchester Day – on Holiday will be a special summer’s day to captivate families and friends alike. Be entertained by performers, skilful musicians, and a menagerie of surprising animals. Marvel as the city’s streets come alive with entertainment, tunes, dance moves and wonderful shows. What’s more – it’s all free.

Ride a helter-skelter in the middle of Deansgate, hang out at the bandstand, or take to the dance floor around St Ann’s Square and listen to a music programme that mixes jazz or dhol drumming with brass bands, and disco classics from Chic Le Freak.

With some of the UK’s best street acts and the North West’s most talented young musicians, lots of ice cream and a few giant snails, we promise you plenty to delight your family, amuse your kids, and kick-off the school holidays to a great start.

Bring your sandwiches and chill out in the deckchairs, enjoying Deansgate as a car-free space full of music, or stay in town for your tea at one of the food and drink stalls open from afternoon into the evening.

Later, embrace the evening’s party atmosphere as dancers and musicians from Global Grooves take over the Northern Quarter.

This exciting event has been created by Manchester City Council in collaboration with outdoor art specialist Walk The Plank. Sure to enthral children and adults of all ages who enjoy an outing to the seaside, a trip to the zoo, or a picnic in the park, Manchester Day – on Holiday will have it all wrapped up into one great day out in the city centre.
