Importance of Being Earnest


Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy is as fresh and funny today as the day it was written. Meet Algernon who has an imaginary friend named Bunbury; Ernest who has an alter-ego of Jack and Gwendoline, who loves Ernest but only if he is Ernest and not Jack! Meanwhile, Jack’s eighteen year old Ward, Cicely, lives in the country and is engaged to her Uncle’s wicked brother - Ernest! Canon Chasuble sighs with unrequited love for Cicely’s governess - Miss Prism - and amidst all the ensuing mayhem is Algernon’s Aunt Augusta - the formidable Lady Bracknell! Oh, and then there’s that ‘hand-bag’...
