We are very saddened to have to announce that we’ve made the decision to postpone all Great British Dog Walk events due to the latest advice from the government regarding the risk of the Covid-19 coronavirus, which is to stop all non-essential social contact.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are bringing the Great British Dog Walk to the beautiful surroundings of Carsington Water in Derbyshire. This is a family and dog friendly event and everyone is welcome.
This is a Great British Dog Walk with a difference – the long walk is much longer than other walks taking place around the UK but we would love for you to join us for this challenge.
There are two marshal led walks to choose from; the shorter route is 5km long and the longer route is 13km long and takes in the entire border of Carsington Water. We will incorporate a rest stop halfway around the long route so bring some snacks and refreshments with you.
If you want to join in with the Great British Dog Walk at Carsington Water but feel that the routes are too long for you then please be advised that there is an alternative short walk of 3km that people can undertake at their own pace.
To keep everyone busy while we wait to start there will be a fun dog show and demonstrations held from 10.30am. There will also be games and fundraising stands in the registration area and the chance to meet lots of Hearing Dogs too
Children (and dogs) go free and all walkers will receive a souvenir of the walk. So sign up today!
Adults £10 (£12 on the day). Children under 16 years free. Long walk - registration from 10.15am and departure at 11am. Short walk - registration from 10.15am and departure at 11.15am. Fun Dog show from 10.30am.
Dogs go free and are very welcome.
Please note that Car Parking Charges apply, see the Carsington Water website for more information: https://bit.ly/36uvwgK Please allow plenty of time to park as we are expecting a good turn out and there are only a few car parking pay points.
Due to the length of the long walk we recommend that young dogs less than 12 months of age are not taken on the long route but do the 5km one instead.
