The Festival of Skills is back! Open to all, this time we will focus on employment and overcoming challenges in the modern workplace. The Festival of Skills is a two-day event, open to everyone, with activities and talks about employability and overcoming challenges in the modern workplace. We will be exploring themes around: - Using Social Media to support employability - Well-Being and Mindfulness in the workplace - Working with multi-cultural teams - Parenting and employment skills. Our aim is to inspire you, challenge your ideas and give you insights to develop yourself, your career and/or your team. Join us for one day only or both. Free lunch is included for those attending all day, provided by The Street Food Chef. This event is free thanks to the funding of the European Commission. DAY 1, 9:00-16:15 – EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS Viewing Motherhood as a Learning Experience, funded by the MOM project The morning session will focus on exploring the skills women gain as mothers which can be transferred to the workplace and how individuals and managers can begin to recognise and value these to a greater extent. The session will include practical exercises and a guest speaker. LUNCH Social Media for Employability, funded by the SMS project The afternoon session will focus on using Social Media platforms to support employment, whether this is from the perspective of the employer or someone looking for work. We will explore the best tools to use and best practice in presenting yourself online. There will be opportunities for networking throughout the day and tea & coffee provided.
DAY 2, 9:00-16:15 - CHALLENGES IN THE MODERN WORKPLACE Managing Multi-Cultural Teams, funded by the InterMed Project Day two will focus on 2 key challenges faced in the modern workplace. The morning session will look at managing multi-cultural teams and will include an Open Space Conference style session designed to help you think about this aspect of working life. LUNCH Becoming a Mindful Manager, funded by the Mindful Managers Project The afternoon session will focus on the issue of well-being in the workplace, exploring tools to become a 'Mindful Manager' and ideas to help employees reduce stress and build good work/life balance. This session will include a short yoga/mindfulness session led by a qualified Iyengar Yoga teacher. There will be opportunities for networking throughout the day and tea & coffee provided. Free lunch is included for those attending all day, provided by The Street Food Chef.
