19 - 20 July 2021, Monday and Tuesday 10 am - 4 pm, two days
£140
This course is designed to expand your existing skills in drawing, painting or illustration through an introduction to the art of collage.
It will take you on a developmental journey from drawing with paper, through simple collage printmaking methods, and assemblage.
Since its emergence as an art form in the early 20th century, collage has continued to serve not only as a primary form of expression, but also as a principle means of developing new creative responses.
This course will therefore include some theory and discussions regarding the importance of collage and the work by artists such as Hannah Höch and Richard Hamilton, as well as practical collage assignments.
On this course, you will:
- complete studio-based activities
- receive one-to-one support
- undertake homework projects and research
- learn how to best present your work.
This course suits people new to collage who already possess some degree of creative experience.
You might be an enthusiast amateur looking for a new project, or a more experienced artist, designer or illustrator wishing to reinvigorate your practice.
What will I gain?
You'll leave with increased confidence, knowledge of collage-based practices, an understanding of the importance of creative risk-taking and, finally, a greater awareness of your own individual creativity.
