Comedy Loft takes their successful roast battle tournament from last year and brings it back to the Volley for 2023!
You'll see stand up comedians battle against each other, trading one-liners and put downs to get the better of their opponents and go through to the next round. 16 comics start the tournament but there can only be 1 King or Queen of roast left standing to win £300.
The roast judges are experienced acts around the south west circuit and beyond, they warm up the night with some roast jokes of their own then choose the roast winners who will be going through to the quarters, semis and then the final in April.
If you've seen a roast battle before then you know what this is all about. If you've not seen a comedy roast battle before then you're in for a treat. Expect to see material ranging from the silly to the very dark from each of our competitors as they attempt to one up their opponent and score points with the judges. After jostling back and forth with jokes, the act that wins the most votes from the judges goes through and the loser is left to lick their wounds.
As with all comedy loft shows there's always something for everyone. The lineups are handpicked to entertain the biggest crowd possible. At previous shows there's been songs, guitars and of course far too much powerpoint.
Expect to see boxing meets comedy but with the only damage inflicted being to the comics' egos.
Hosted every last Wednesday of each month until April, head upstairs at The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer in the middle of rowdy King St in the centre of the city. Even if you hate the roasts (which you won't) you can enjoy one of the pub's locally brewed craft ales. If you like the show, drinking many of these will make it funnier!
What sets Comedy Loft apart from other nights in Bristol is the atmosphere. Experience it for yourself, if you don't think the same thing then get your money back. Let's be honest, what else are you going to do on a Wednesday night? For the best of the South West's comedy scene and beyond come down and join Comedy Loft for an alternative night of laughs.
