There will be plenty of festive fun at The Museum of Somerset this Christmas with seasonal events throughout the holidays.
Santa will be setting up his grotto in the alms house for visits every Saturday in December (advance booking is essential to avoid disappointment). After visiting Santa children can also follow the Elf Trail around the Museum in search of the cuddly Christmas Elves.
On Saturday 8 December local arts and crafts will be showcased at the Museum’s Christmas Market with more than 30 stalls where visitors can find the perfect Christmas gift. Organised in conjunction with the Castle Hotel, the market will include festive food and drink and carol singing. Entry is free.
On Tuesday 18 December the Museum welcomes the acclaimed historical musicians Chris Green and Sophie Matthews, with special guest Jude Rees, for ‘A Brief History of Christmas’. They will showcase 600 years of Christmas music, songs and carols.
Then on Friday 21 December the Museum will be serving a buffet-style two-course festive lunch in the evocative medieval surroundings of Castle House.
The Museum will also host Toddler Explorers Christmas Fun (age 1–3) on 7 December and Nostalgic Christmas Games and Toys on Saturday 29 December (age 3+).
Booking is essential for Santa’s Grotto (£4), ‘A Brief History of Christmas’ (£12.50), Christmas Lunch (£12.95) and Toddler Explorers (£4).
