Chesterfield’s Brampton Mile has been a famous rite of passage and the source of many madcap stories for as long as anyone can remember.
It used to be a formidable challenge but having lost many of the pubs over the years, these days it’s much more achievable! The Tour is led by Martin Alvey and Shaun Stevenson who also run a Chesterfield Town Centre Pub Tour.
Starting at The Star on Chatsworth Road at 1pm the Brampton Mile Pub Crawl includes some fascinating history of the long lost and still remaining pubs, colourful landlords, extraordinary events and local industries. It’s a fabulous afternoon’s entertainment, even if you stay sober!
The pubs are grouped into clusters of two or three and you will have 30 minutes or a full hour to have a drink in one, two or all three. At each cluster of pubs, there will be a departure time and place and Martin will ring his bell to let you know it’s time to go. There’s a total of 18 places to get a drink – 12 pubs, 1 brewery, 1 microbrewery, 2 restaurant bars and there are two other pubs currently closed for refurbishment, which may be open by the summer.
The tour will end at around 6pm and you’re then free to continue into town or call it a night, having victoriously conquered the famous Brampton Mile!
Booking onto the tour is really important, if there aren’t enough bookings, the tour may not go ahead. Please book by sending a message to Great Historic Pub Tours on their Facebook page or by texting 07908 183 160. On the day payment must be made using cash only.
