Botanical Endeavours 2019

About

Our special exhibition next year will be called 'Botanical Endeavours' .

What did Joseph Banks do on Cook's first voyage, and why did he become a celebrity when the ship returned in 1771?

The exhibition will be on all season from mid February to the first week in November.

Joseph Banks was the young botanist who accompanied Cook on the First Voyage, and brought back masses of specimens of exotic plants, the foundation of his later career at Kew Gardens and with the Royal Society.

We are in the early stages of creating the exhibition.
