About

Heritage Tour | Gun Cliff Sewage Pumping Station | Thursday 13th - Friday 14th September

Come underground and explore what lies behind the Lyme Regis Cobb Gate sea wall and discover what happens to your waste water!

Visitors will receive a tour of the facility, pipes and storm chamber which operates discretely discreetly under the feet of beach goers at the popular tourist destination, Lyme Regis promenade.

The pumping station plays a key role in keeping Lyme Regis seas and bathing waters clean, forming part of South West Water’s 1995 Clean Sweep scheme.

The tours are offered as part of the National Trust’s Heritage Open Days, a celebration of local culture and heritage across the UK, opening the doors to sites and events normally unavailable to the public.
