Alistair Anderson's varied performance and composing work grows out of a deep love of traditional music, balanced with an adventurous sense of its constantly changing nature. He's composed for many musicians from different genres: Peter Cropper commissioned him to write a piece for the Lindsay String Quartet and concertina, and the resulting work On Cheviot Hills was toured across the North. Two further commissions from Peter – Roots and Branches and Handing it on – were toured nationally under Music in the Round's banner.
