A Tribute to Cyril Arthur Pearson and his 'Fresh Air Fund'
Sunday 7th February 10:30am - 12:30pm
From 1894 the ‘Ragged School Union’ brought the poorest children from
the East End to Loughton to enjoy a day in the fresh air. Georgina Green
will lead us in their footsteps, to the site of the ‘Shaftesbury Retreat’ and
on to Debden Slade.
Meet: At the car park at the junction of Smart’s Lane and the High Road,
Loughton. Accessible by foot from Loughton underground station on the
Central Line, just as the children did 100 years ago.
