The bank holiday might be over, but there is no need to feel down, there is still plenty to look forward to (including another summer bank holiday!). We thought we’d give you a taste of some of the top events taking place across the UK in the next couple of weeks that might take your fancy!

Firstly, for the history buffs among you, there are a whole host of interesting D-Day commemorative events coming up in Portsmouth, including flypasts, boat launches and much more.


If you prefer your history to be a bit more MODern, you won’t want to miss this event taking place in Leicester, Mods Shaping a Generation is part of a series of events celebrating Mod Culture.


This exhibition tells the story of the Mod scene in Leicester and Nottingham. The event is running until the end of June, so you have plenty of chance to see it!
Music fans will be gearing up for festival season, so why not ease yourself in with a few of the lesser known festivals taking place across the UK? Liverpool’s International Music Festival has a fabulous line up and takes place in July. Find out more here.  
Live at the Bandstand is taking place in Portsmouth and offers a sizzling summer of free live music all at Southsea Bandstand! Take in live music every weekend until 12th August.

Festivals aren’t just about music, there are lots of festivals offering family friendly activities, including the River Festival in Liverpool this maritime event covers music, food, art and more all on the Waterfront and is free! Another free festival is Leicester Riverside Festival spread over two days featuring activities on and off the water in Bede Park and Western Boulevard.


The Manchester International Festival kicks off on the 4th July and is an artist-led festival presenting work from across the spectrum of arts and culture. Don’t miss out on this incredible celebration of art this summer.

For the foodies among you, you’ll want to head to Maidstone for their Summer food and drink festival. Running until 2nd June, this is three days of food focused activities with a range of entertainment and live music – it’s a must for food fans!
Want something a bit different, the Torbay Airshow is always a popular event. The RAF Red Arrows will be kicking off their displays for the season at this event, so you won’t want to miss it. Plus, Torbay is a wonderful part of the world and is well worth the visit!

And finally, Bristol Tattoo Convention are returning for another year whilst also celebrating a change of venue, the convention has grown in popularity so much that they have had to move to Ashton Gate stadium to host this year’s event! For anyone wanting to go, there is a free shuttle service running from Bristol Temple Meads station.
